Dr. Fernandez’s career began as an internal consultant, rapidly advancing to become a member of the global HR leadership team, reporting to the CHRO for a Fortune 500 company. She oversaw global Leadership Assessment and Selection, Performance Management, Employee Engagement surveys, 360-degree feedback and talent analytics. For the last decade, she has focused primarily on executive assessment, selection, and coaching, mainly for senior leader to the c-suite level. Her diverse industry experience spans finance, insurance, healthcare, pharmaceutical, retail, manufacturing, and hospitality. With her global leadership experience and passion for travel, she continues to work internationally. She appreciates learning the context and culture of each of her clients, to help tailor her feedback and recommendations.
Dr. Fernandez’s expertise in leadership is multifaceted. She led the redesign of an enterprise-wide competency model, and subsequently aligned core people processes such a 360-degree feedback process and behavioral interviewing. Also, with her focus on talent management, she oversaw the validation of leadership assessment tools for a variety of roles. Most recently she has partnered with dozens of organizations assessing and developing leaders at the director to c-suite level. She is passionate about diversity, going back to some of her doctoral research, and is proud of recent recommendations for minimizing subtle bias in selection processes. These diverse experiences help her take a holistic and strategic view around leadership and talent pipelines.
Dr. Fernandez received her Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the City University of New York, Baruch College and her B.S. in Psychology from Union College. She is a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and past president of The Metropolitan New York Association for Applied Psychology (METRO), the nation’s oldest applied psychology club. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring new places and collecting Japanese maples.
